  PI rod refers to the engineering plastic rod extruded from PI engineering plastics, and its density is mainly determined by PI polyimide.


  The density of PI polyimide is between 1.44-1.53. This uncertainty is mainly caused by the composition and proportion of additives added by PI in the molding process.


  Therefore, the density data can only be determined after determining which material to choose according to the specific requirements of your company in material selection, such as:


  1. After filling with glass fiber, minerals and other reinforcing materials, the density of PI rod will increase due to the large specific gravity of the filling material itself;


  2. After filling with plant fiber or low-density material, the overall density of PI rod will be reduced;


  During production, major manufacturers will formulate corresponding formulas for common directions, and the density will be reflected in the physical property table, which can be used as reference data.

  PI (polyimide) is a new type of high temperature resistant thermosetting engineering plastics. Because it can maintain high physical and mechanical properties in a wide range of temperatures of - 270-400 ℃, and can be used in air of - 240-260 ℃ for a long time, it has electrical insulation, wear resistance, high temperature radiation resistance and physical and mechanical properties. It has many synthetic ways and can be processed and formed by various methods, Therefore, it is widely used in high-tech fields such as aviation, aerospace, electrical appliances, machinery, chemical industry, microelectronics, instrumentation, petrochemical industry and metrology, and has become one of the indispensable materials in global rocket, aerospace and other scientific and technological fields. In addition, glass fiber is added to PI. Graphite and boron fiber can obtain higher hardness and strength, and can replace metal to make structural parts of jet engine. PI resin filled with graphite or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) can be used as self-lubricating material. After adding wear-resistant filler, it can be used to manufacture high temperature resistant brake pads.


  DuPont Vespel is a typical representative of polyimide (PI) plastic series.


  Vespel-sp1 (brown): Basic specification with high mechanical strength and electrical properties.


  Vespel-sp21 (black): add 15% graphite filling specification to provide wear characteristics and heat resistance.


  Vespel-sp211 (black): add 15% graphite and 10% PTFE to obtain low static friction coefficient. Suitable for medium temperature environment.


  Vespel-sp22 (black): add 40% graphite filling, small expansion coefficient and high creep resistance.


  Vespel-sp3 (black): filled with 15% molybdenum disulfide, suitable for friction and sliding requirements in vacuum or inert gas.
