The academic name of peek is called polyether ether ketone, which belongs to a kind of high temperature resistant, high strength aromatic hydrocarbon high polymer. Because of its complete structure, it has the characteristics of high strength and high toughness. The carbon fiber peek material makes good use of this point. The excellent performance of the carbon fiber reinforced PEEK is further improved, and the performance of the two materials can be replaced, which is well used in industrial and medical equipment.

On the PEEK material, its own heat resistance is very good, but if the temperature is too high, the specific modulus of the product will decrease, making the price of PEEK very difficult. After adding carbon fiber, it is very good to a certain extent. After solving this problem, we also have a deeper understanding of the tensile strength and bending ability of carbon fiber PEEK composites.


Carbon fiber peek material bending ability

After comparing the carbon fiber peek material with the peek material, it is found that the mechanical properties in bending are somewhat the same, but the curve of the carbon fiber reinforced peek composite material shows a linear growth. When the critical point is reached, it will break immediately without a buffer; while PEEK The material will show a form of bending growth. When the maximum bending force is reached, it will not break and will show a downward trend. This is mainly because of the reason why our carbon fiber PEEK material does not use continuous carbon fiber, in terms of the ability to resist bending. The performance is not good, so some companies in Wuxi Zhishang New Materials are actively developing continuous carbon fiber reinforced PEEK materials, striving for better performance of thermoplastic carbon fibers.


The tensile capacity of carbon fiber peek material

The maximum tensile strength in PEEK is 100MPa. During the entire stretching process, the tensile breaking strength curve of PEEK presents an arc. After exceeding the maximum tensile breaking strength, PEEK has shown an arc of falling breaking strength. The surface PEEK did not break immediately, but appeared in the slow deformation period. The tensile change of PEEK is very similar to that of homogeneous materials. There are three stages of tensile change of composite homogeneous materials. Therefore, it can also be shown that PEEK is a tough material.


The stress-displacement curve of carbon fiber reinforced PEEK shows that the maximum tensile strength of carbon fiber reinforced PEEK is 240MPa. During the stretching process, the tensile rupture strength curve of carbon fiber reinforced PEEK is straight, and the curve decreases vertically after the maximum tensile rupture strength is exceeded. This also shows that the material of carbon fiber reinforced PEEK breaks immediately after bearing the maximum breaking strength, so the elongation distance and breaking strength are 0.
